26 healthy habits you should adopt in your twenties

Over the years, it becomes more and more evident that we have the ability to create our own happiness. Yes, circumstances influence our happiness and sometimes happy isn’t even on our radar but I’ve noticed regardless of my situation I am happiest when I am on top of my game mentally, physically, creatively etc. Every day we have the power to re-do our life and to start a new page. Every day we can choose to improve ourselves, and therefore our happiness, or diminish any chance that we had. I am always researching studies, watching TED talks and reading articles on happiness (my guilty pleasure) and I’ve found that there are daily habits that all happy people have. I’ve experimented with them all and found 26 healthy habits you should adopt to live a more meaningful life.

26 healthy habits you should adopt in your twenties

There is no way that every single day you will accomplish every single one of these however, as the days go on whether you focus on one or try to attain as many as you can you will begin to notice a shift in not only your happiness but also your energy level and productivity.

  1. Drink more water
  2. Choose tea over coffee
  3. Find a way to use your voice (start a blog, create a personal brand, find your outlet)
  4. Find a cause/charity to support
  5. Stop beating yourself up
  6. Be intentional with everything you do
  7. Go to bed early
  8. Always take your makeup off before bed
  9. Create a to-do list every morning
  10. Give yourself a day (or week) off of drinking alcohol
  11. Pick out your outfit the night before
  12. Stop comparing yourself to other people
  13. Unplug from social media for an hour or two every day
  14. Make your bed every morning
  15. Eat organic whenever possible
  16. Do one thing for yourself each day
  17. Tell someone how much they mean to you
  18. Read a book
  19. Use toxic-free beauty products
  20. Exercise (even if that involves just doing 10 pushups every day)
  21. Follow brands on social media that make you smile & inspire you
  22. Start a gratitude journal or just simply state one thing you are thankful for every night before bed
  23. Celebrate the small wins
  24. Stop smoking
  25. Buy beauty products that have sunscreen in them
  26. Surround yourself with people who improve you and your life

  1. This is a great list! I’m currently 19 but I’m happy to see I’m doing about half the things on the list! Hopefully I can get in the habit of doing more 🙂
