The Blog

Style by Liv Q&A

Hey Everyone! For those of you who are new: I’m Olivia, the owner of Style by Liv. I started this blog in college as a way to show my family and friends what I was up to. Now, it has evolved into a creative outlet and wellness hub for all things related to skincare, food, health trends, fashion, faith and girlboss brands. SBL has a little bit of everything and nothing is off limits. Truly, I will discuss it all including my most embarrassing moments and my most intimate relationships.

Style by Liv Q&A

Style by Liv has been growing each and every day and there are so many new individuals who are following along on this journey. I’m feeling so grateful for each and every one of you. I’m trying to get to know you all on Instagram but for now, you guys had some questions for me:

What is your favorite wellness hack? -Meghan

Coconut oil. I use this stuff daily as a hair conditioning treatment, moisturizer, makeup remover, mouthwash, teeth whitener and to clean my makeup brushes. (I’ve also listed many uses here.)

How did you start blogging? -Natalie & Maria

In college, I was interviewed on my friend’s fashion blog and multiple times on College Fashionista. Everyone always commented on my outfits and still to this day tease me about always being overdressed and my random interest in things like Matcha, True Crime and whatever the latest health trend is. I go through phases of trying to be gluten free for a week to see what it’s like to getting super into Orangetheory. So many people think that I make life interesting with my random comments and view of the world so I just decided to start sharing it here on Style by Liv.

How do you build a following? –Natalie

Honestly, I’m not a the best at strategy or coming up with plans on the best times to post etc. Since the very beginning this blog has been a hobby of mine that I have just run with at full speed. I don’t do anything particular to grow my following besides just being myself and enjoying creating content. I truly believe that networking and being authentic are the two reasons that I have the amount of followers that I do.

Whats the craziest thing you’ve done for the sake of wellness? – Amanda

A three day juice cleanse. Worst three days ever. (Read about it and laugh at me here)

What is your favorite barre place in Boston? -Amanda

Xtend Barre all the way. I’ve tried so many different barre studios but Xtend Barre has such an incredible cardio component that other studios don’t have. Plus, they are super accepting and inspiring. I never get called out for bad form, instead they come over to me, remove the microphone and give feedback. They push you but don’t put you down, which is very important.

How do you balance such a tasking job like nursing and a social life? -Tatiana

Great question. Honestly, I’m just really passionate about everything that I’m doing. I love Style by Liv, I love being a nurse, I love helping others, I love Beautycounter and I love pictures.  Together, all of these things make up my life which is 110% spent filled with some type of work that doesn’t really feel like work because I like it so much.

What is your work/life balance like? -Nikki

With my new job at the Poison Control Center I am working the craziest hours. One day will be morning shift and then the next will be evening. It’s a mess! This has caused my work/life balance to be a little more difficult to achieve.

I’m a huge scheduler so I try to make sure that I am scheduling time to work on my blog, see my boyfriend, hang out with friends, reply to comments on Instagram and relax with Netflix. It is super important for me to schedule this time but also recognize that I need to listen to my body and what it needs in that moment. If I’m too exhausted to work out then I will skip it and head to bed early. If I’m too stressed to make it out then I’ll stay in and work on my blog deadlines.

Taking care of myself is vital in helping me perform at my best every day. Face masks, good books and lot of green tea is vital.

How are you balancing life? -Fabby

I view life as a daily decision of “what is my priority today?” You cannot workout, eat healthy, sleep well, see your friends and get all your work done in one day so you have pick one or two priorities each day and focus on those.

What is your cant-live-without beauty product? -Anonymous

The charcoal mask and countermatch eye rescue cream, both from Beautycounter.

What is your favorite spot in Boston? -Zach

Totally depends what type of spots we are talking about. When it comes to coffee shops for treats or for work: Tatte Bakery 110%. For sweets, I love the cannolis from Mike’s Pastry. I love the Seaport area as well because there is nothing better than food and drinks by the water.

I’ve been dying to go to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum;  It’s on my Boston Bucket List!
